Tbf, it’s not just a female thing, although I recognise it happens to women more.My dad went to our GP a dozen times about his back. He got prescribed Tramadol and that was it. When they finally realised it was Stage IV lung cancer, he died within 6 weeks of diagnosis. Apparently, he’d had it for at least 3-4 years.Statistically, men go to the doctors a lot less, even when the pain/symptoms are causing a lot of problems. Surely my dad going so often should have raised some flags? He must have felt awful, for years, and no one (inc. me, tbf) thought much of it.To be fair to doctors they deal with a lot of patients that overcomplicate basic ailments. I work for a large retailer and have found many people go to the doctor because they have a headache, or stomach ache, or a common cold. Any slight uncomfortable feeling and they call the doctor immediately, worried they have a Beach and Turtle Canvas Wall Decor health issuePart of this may be because the person’s employer requires a doctors note to call in sick/use a sick day? Possibly. But in most cases yes, I think many people overcomplicate basic ailments. I knew someone who would go to the ER–not just a doctors office, but the ER–CONSTANTLY for very minor issues. Of course never paying a dime for any of it. She was exhausting to be around in every aspect.
